Masterpiece Art unveils new collaborative contemporary art show

Featured artists: Alena Vavilina, Mary Noga, Daria Kolosova, Alexey Kanis, Alexander Dedov, Denis Kulikov, Tony Seker, Andrew Kuzantsev, Yulia Mamontova.

Dubai, August 2021: Having exhibited predominantly secondary market art pieces from leading historical artists, Masterpiece Art Dubai aligns with Alexandra Gallery to offer the public a fresh, contemporary art experience in its flagship Dubai gallery.

VISIONARY: Art & Dreams | 29 August – 9 September 2021

Masterpiece Art Dubai, Gallery One (Unit 546, Ground Floor, Wafi City)

The wake of summer’s dream presents a platform for renewed creativity from the budding collaboration between Masterpiece Art Dubai and Alexandra Gallery – specialists in contemporary Russian art, further supplemented by an international roster of established and emerging artists.

Co-curated by respective directors, Alex Cousens and Alexandra Timorina, VISIONARY: Art & Dreams brings together highlights from Alexandra Gallery artists, carefully curated in a mixed show within the exhibition space of Masterpiece Art Dubai’s Gallery One in Wafi City.

Painters and sculptors of various media combine in this pop-up exhibition of strong form and bold colour.

Whether it be the contrast of palettes and textures delivered by the brush – Yulia Mamontova; conversations between raw and expressive media – Daria Kolosova; the play of light & shadow permeating metal sculpture, as seen in the surreal manifestations of Dedov’s metalwork; or the marmoreal glean & contemplative permanence of Kanis’ pure marble: these select artworks appeal to refined tastes and attest to quality, skilled workmanship realised from within the visions and dreams of the artists.

Racing dynamism and expressive poetic rhythm journeys the viewer through the language of American-Lebanese painter Tony Seker, the brush being the conduit to his visions and experiences.  Dubai-based Polish artist Mary Noga’s alluring femme fatales are rendered from her seductive imagination in often minimalist backdrops that focus on the portrait as a means of psychological conveyance.

Also creating out of Dubai, Alena Vavilina’s rendering in two-and-three-dimensional works of art echo the exhibition’s core thematic, perfectly summarised in her surreal work Dream of Bumblebee, amongst others.

Further visionary work comes via the polygonal constructions of Kuzantsev, which are evermore accentuated with a monochromatic, clean, sharp finish and dramatically contrast the language of Kulikov, whose alien-organic metalwork transform common vegetal icons into suggestive & minimalist bold forma which grow into their surrounding space.

Set in the iconic location of Wafi City, the realised dream of its founder and a vision of ancient culture, this exclusive pop-up exhibition supplements this growing destination within the Dubai art-scene and is open to the public daily until 9 September with select events throughout.

Private View: Thursday, 2 September, 7-10pm

Curator’s tour: Sunday, 5 September, 7-10pm

Finissage: Thursday, 9 September, 7-10pm
